Reply to a client's comment on homework

Each piece of homework has its own comments, a conversation between the client and their therapist. CopingCard does not send you a notification or an e-mail when a client comments. You see it in the portal: on the Homework board, in the Awaiting your reply column, and on the client’s Homework tab, where the row is marked Awaiting your reply, in amber.

  • In the portal menu, click Homework board and look at the Awaiting your reply column. To see only those clients, click the Awaiting your reply filter.
  • On a client’s page, on the Homework tab, click the Awaiting your reply filter.
  1. On the client’s page, click the Homework tab.
  2. In the row of the homework, click Comments.
  3. Read the conversation. The oldest comments are at the top.
  4. Write your reply in the box.
  5. Click Comment.

Your reply appears at once under You. A comment can be up to 2,000 characters long and cannot be edited or removed.

CopingCard tells the client that you replied, with a notification on their phone or, if a notification cannot reach them, by e-mail. The notification names you and the homework, but not what you wrote. The client reads your reply in the app, under that homework.

Once you reply, the homework is no longer marked as awaiting your reply. When the client comments again, it is marked again. A client’s unanswered comment counts on any homework you can see, including homework the client added for themselves, and your reply there clears it like any other. The board and the client’s page show the same number. Homework that was cancelled is never counted: its row shows No longer relevant, in grey.

  • If the homework was cancelled, you can still read its comments, but not add new ones.
  • If the client has switched off sharing with you, you can still read the comments, but not write.
  • On homework the client added for themselves, you can read and reply only while the client allows you to view their data. Without that, you do not see the row or its comments.
  • On that homework you can only reply. You cannot edit, cancel, reopen or remind.
